Proven Faith

I Was Impacted But I'm Not Affected

In this powerful sermon, Elder James Wilson explores the profound impact of adversity on believers, drawing from passages like 2 Corinthians 4:8-11 and John 16:33. He teaches that while Christians may face trouble, they are not defeated, but instead strengthened through Jesus' victory over the world. Elder Wilson encourages the church to praise God in every circumstance, even in moments of suffering and death, as a way to reflect Christ’s life within us. This sermon inspires a faith-filled, resilient response to life’s challenges, reminding believers to trust in God’s promises and the transformative power of adversity.

Issues

In this compelling sermon, Pastor Donnie McClurkin tackled the critical importance of guarding your heart, as emphasized in Proverbs 4:23. The heart is described as deceitful, often leading us astray through flawed choices and emotions. He explains that only by returning to God, the ultimate creator, can we truly understand and heal our hearts, thoughts, and souls. Addressing the trichotomy of man—spirit, body, and soul—this sermon underscores the need for spiritual recalibration and soul healing, reminding us that wealth and success cannot mend a broken soul. With powerful examples of faith and healing, Pastor Donnie calls for honesty with God, urging us to seek His help in overcoming past issues and to embrace the unique identity He has given each of us. Break free from the yoke of your past and step into the abundant life God has planned for you.

Trust! God is Up to Something

Life will always have its struggles but these struggles are no surprise to God. Sometimes we forget that God has plans that He purposely structured for us and it includes all of our struggles. Pastor Donnie McClurkin propelled exuberantly from the first part of the text in Philippians 1:6, which says, “being confident”; and revealed to us that God is walking with us through every situation we are facing, inclusive of our mistakes and wrong doings. God doesn’t just come to our problems but He’s already ahead of it because He’s up to something. The enemy will hit us hard, fast and continuously but we must remember to represent God well by not bowing to the evils of this world. So when your problems get intense, remain confident and keep your eyes open because God is about to show up. He’s up to something.

Undivided

The Bible says that God will command the blessings when people come together in unity. Pastor Donnie McClurkin vehemently opposed the widespread division that has found its way into the body of Christ. He ascertained that this division has put the church in a dangerous place because the church is a substratum of hope and help for the world. He admonished that we should not allow our political differences to bifurcate our fellowship and solidarity because if the church is divided then we will become disconnected and dysfunctional. He then called for unity, reminding us that everyone is valuable and everyone is needed in their respective roles because God has made us as one body, which should never be divided.

God’s Promises Won’t Let Me Quit

It is really easy to quote the Scriptures, especially during hard times but do we really know or understand their meaning? Elder James Wilson, annexed the promises of God with a charge to never quit amid our struggles. Although we may find ourselves between the purpose of God and the destruction and divisiveness of the world, God will make good on His Word and His grace will take us through it. So be encouraged today, God’s promises of provision are far greater than anything you could ever face and His promises won't let you quit.

Watch Your Mouth

When was the last time you evaluated the impact of your words over your life and those around you? What we say doesn't just come out of heads but it emerges from our hearts. Although words are not magical, they hold power and influence in all that we do. The culture of Christianity is comprehensively based on the Bible, this then gives the believers the responsibility to govern their lives by studying and applying the word, especially in their speech. Pastor Donnie McClurkin, vigorously, pivoted from Proverbs 18:21, and cemented the foundation on the power of the tongue. He made it clear that if we speak negative words, they can either be productive or abortive, not only in our lives but also in the lives of others. We should study, listen more and talk less. It's time to purge ourselves from all negativity. So watch your mouth and don’t let it hinder your success.

Fishers (of) Men

If we reflected on the first time that we heard about Jesus, it was probably through someone that we met in passing or someone we already know but either way, someone spoke to us. PDM gave us a Christian staple that as believers, we should be ready and willing to share the gospel with others. Although church attendance is necessary, we shouldn't allow ourselves to be confined to just it functions. Jesus wants us to get out of our comfort zones and become steadily emboldened by his great commission to go out and win more souls.  So since God had done such a wonderful transformation in you, why not share it. It’s time to get out of the shallow waters and launch out into the deep.

There’s Always Help

As Christians, we have to get real with the reality of life that there’s going to be days that we bump into problems, there will be seasons of turbulence, and it is in these times that we are tested if we would cower under the pressure or remain steadfast in our confession of faith in Christ, abide in Him, as He too has been through all that we are going through in life and is the only One who could always come to our aid.

Tune in to this sermon as Pastor Donnie McClurkin exhorts us to hold fast to Jesus and remain faithful in times of life’s real adversity and watch God work.

When Jesus Lets It Die

There are things in life that are seemingly unfair and unfavorable to us despite us being on our knees, faithful in prayer and in service to the Lord. More often, we think that just because we pray and serve the Lord, we always get what we want. In this sermon, Elder James spoke of the reality of God’s sovereign, kind, and loving will for our lives that when things don’t seemingly go as he hoped they would be, our constant source of everything is still with us and for us—Jesus.

Sermon Scriptures: Mark 5:21-24; Mark 5:35-37; John 11:1-3; John 11:17-21; 2 Corinthians 5:17; John 11:25; Isaiah 53:10
