Gabby Barrett & Charlie Puth Perform 'I Hope' For First Time At CMA Awards

Gabby Barrett and Charlie Puth were quite a dynamic duo at the 2020 CMA Awards on Wednesday (November 11).

The pair teamed up to perform their hit song 'I Hope' together for the first time ever. Rehearsal for their duet marked the first time the pair had ever met in person. Though 'I Hope' has been a smash hit for the song partners, they actually put the whole thing together virtually.

With Puth on they keys and Barrett perched on a stool across the stage, the musicians remained a safe distance apart throughout the performance. The low-key production and choreography highlighted the pair's vocal abilities.

Ahead of the performance, Barrett—who is well into her first pregnancy—joked that she hoped she'd be able to breathe while singing. “Hopefully it goes well. I’m having a hard time breathing, being in the third trimester and the baby just crushing your diaphragm, you know, all the good things!” Barrett joked. "I’m really excited and I think it’s gonna come together really well.”

In addition to performing her hit song at the awards show, 'I Hope was nominated for Single of the Year and Barrett received a nod for New Artist of the Year.
