National Guard Personnel Deployed to South Carolina Coast

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) —Hundreds of state law enforcement officers and National Guard personnel have deployed to the South Carolina coast to serve in a security capacity for evacuation zones.

Over the years, many have expressed concern regarding open season by those looking to take advantage of empty houses left behind by hurricane evacuees.

"Zero tolerance for lawlessness," said SLED spokesperson Mark Keel Tuesday at an afternoon Hurricane Dorian media briefing with Gov. Henry McMaster and other state department heads.
