BET does not stand by the offensive tweet that was sent out on their official Twitter account shading Nicki Minaj .

Following backlash for their mean comments about Nicki's lack of Grammy Awards , the network released a statement apologizing. "BET loves Nicki Minaj," the statement began. "We have supported her from the very beginning of her career and will continue to do so moving forward. Nicki has paved the way for so many performers and has solidified her place as one of the most powerful figures in the music industry. Unfortunately, the respect we have for Nicki was violated by this post that should never have been written."

"The post does not reflect how we feel about Nicki," BET continued. "And further does not reflect our company values. We deeply apologize for the hurt, disappointment and confusion that this post has caused. We are committed to doing everything we can to address the situation. We are also conducting an internal audit to assure these types of posts are not published again. We have apologized to Nicki and her team. The post has been removed and we have taken additional appropriate action. We understand Nicki’s position and look forward to continuing our dialogue with her. Finally, we apologize to all of her fans. This should have never happened."

As previously reported, after the 2019 Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 10), the network's Twitter account celebrated Cardi B 's big Grammy win by sharing an article with the headline: "Cardi B Is The First Solo Female Rapper To Win Best Rap Album, And Fans Are Weeping." However, instead of keeping the caption about Cardi, the network decided to take the moment to shade Nicki, whose previously had beef with the "Money" rapper. "Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj is being dragged by her lacefront," BET's captioned the post.

After fans slammed the account for tweeting such a thing, it was deleted shortly after, but not without getting Nicki's attention first. Less than 24 hours after the initial tweet was sent, the "Barbie Dreams" rapper replied with a tweet of her own. "Young Money will no longer be apart of the BET Experience or award show. ♥️🙏🏽♥️ Summer Tour dates dropping soon 🦄," she wrote. Nicki didn't stop there, she later captioned a screenshot of her fans slamming BET with caption: "Meanwhile, BET is being dragged by their lace front. 🤣." She also instructed her fans who bought tickets to the BET Experience to get a refund.

Nicki has yet to respond to BET's apology.
